Men's Cross Country Team Places Strong 2nd at Franklin

Matt Repking brought home a third-place finish to help lead the men to second-place at Franklin.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's cross country team opened the 2006 season with a strong second-place performance at the Franklin College Invitational on Saturday.

Franklin won the meet with 57 points to narrowly outdistance Rose-Hulman's 61-point effort.

Junior Matt Repking (Effingham, Ill./Teutopolis) finished third individually with a time of 27:07 to lead the balanced team performance.

Sophomore Stephen Boedicker (Delaware, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) came home just behind Repking in fourth with a time of 27:14.

The freshman duo of Kyle Beaty (Needham/Triton Central) and Eric Clark (Wooster, Ohio/Triway) added finishes of ninth and 21st to the effort.  Beaty ran an eight-kilometer time of 27:50, with Clark completing the course in 28:23.

Senior Charles Williams (Bloomington/North) rounded out the team score with a 26th place finish in a time of 28:31.

The Engineers return to action at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet at the Bird-Gibson Course on Sept. 15.
