Rose-Hulman played basketball at Shook Fieldhouse for 49 seasons.

Rose-Hulman's men's basketball team called Shook Fieldhouse home for 49 basketball seasons, from 1948-1997.  Though lacking in physical beauty, Shook Fieldhouse provided countless fond memories for coaches, players and fans, and will forever be linked with the school's basketball history.

Former Rose-Hulman vice president of development Ron Reeves may have summed up Shook Fieldhouse best, saying, "It looks like a big barrel, and it sounds like a big barrel."

The traditions of Shook Fieldhouse made the building unique.   When the Engineers took the floor prior to a game or half, a cannon would explode, sirens would ring, a "Give Em Hell Rose" banner would drop from the ceiling, and fans would clack wood blocks together in an attempt to intimidate opponents.

A countless number of outstanding games were played in Shook Fieldhouse.  This year, those connected to Rose-Hulman basketball decided a top ten list of games played in the famous building.  Determining this list sparked debate and intrigue, but mainly allowed those of us on campus to remember the wonderful building that was Shook Fieldhouse.
