TERRE HAUTE, IND. –
Transylvania University shot 52% from the field and placed three
players in double figures to top Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology 67-44 in men's basketball action on Saturday.
Tim Tierney led the Pioneers with 22 points on
8-11 from the field and 4-6 from three-point range.
Matthew Parton added 19 points and Aaron Cash poured in 11 for
the winners.
Senior Ron George (Louisville, Ky./Manual)
paced the Engineer offense with 16 points on 5-8 from the field.
Junior Lorenzo Rice (Grandview, Mo.) came
off the bench for seven points, and sophomore Jeff McCartney
(Wooster, Ohio/Triway) added six points for Rose-Hulman.
Transylvania jumped out to a 30-16 halftime
advantage on 50% from the field and three-point range, while
holding Rose-Hulman to 32%.
Transylvania improved to 12-7 overall and 7-3 in
conference play with the victory, while Rose-Hulman dropped to
9-11 and 5-6 in league games. The Engineers host Mount St.
Joseph on Wednesday night at Hulbert Arena.
