  Rose-Hulman News Hot Shooting Leads Mount St. Joseph Past Rose-Hulman

Michael Kelly scored 15 points to lead the Engineer offense.
CINCINNATI, OHIO. - Mount St. Joseph shot 56% from the field and placed three players in double figures to top Rose-Hulman 75-62 in men's basketball action on Wednesday night.

Josh Carter led the Lions with 21 points, while Michael Eirons added 17 points and Chris Cioffi scored 11 for the balanced Mount St. Joseph offensive attack.

Freshman Michael Kelly (Fort Myers, Fla.) reached double figures for the third straight game with 15 points on 6-11 from the field to lead the Engineers.

Senior Jared Moore (Indianapolis/ Perry Meridian) also tallied double figures with 10 points, while sophomore Jeff McCartney (Wooster, Ohio/Triway) pitched in with a trio of three-point field goals for nine points.

Rose-Hulman shot 54% from the field and 6-8 from three-point range in the first half to remain within 40-37 at the break.  The Engineers and Lions were tied nine times in the opening 20 minutes, with a McCartney three-pointer giving Rose-Hulman the lead at 35-32.

In the second half, a layup by freshman Daniel Lowers (Ellettsville/Edgewood) tied the score at 45-45 with 15:32 left.  Mount St. Joseph answered with a 17-5 run over the next eight minutes to secure the advantage.

Mount St. Joseph improved to 7-7 overall and 1-4 in league play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 4-9 and 1-4 in conference games.  The Engineers travel to Manchester College on Saturday.
