TERRE HAUTE, IND. - DePauw University junior Mike
Moore buried a three-pointer with 1:06 remaining to snap a 48-48
tie and lead the Tigers to a 54-53 win at Rose-Hulman Institute
of Technology on Monday.Rose-Hulman
rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to knot the score
at 38-38 with 9:19 remaining on two free throws by senior
Jared Moore (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian).
The Engineers added six straight points to
take a 44-38 advantage with 6:55 left on a three-pointer by
senior Phil Sundling (Huntington/North) and three points
from freshman Daniel Lowers (Gosport/Edgewood).
DePauw rallied with six points of its own to
tie the score at 44-44 with 3:11 left, then continued the run to
take a 48-44 edge on two free throws by Steve LeMasters.
Layups by Sundling and Lowers tied the game at
48-48 again with 1:44 left, before the three by Moore and three
free throws in the final minute secured the DePauw victory.
Lowers led all scorers with 16 points for
Rose-Hulman on 7-12 from the field. Moore also reached
double figures with 13 points.
Brian Oilar scored 14 points and added a
game-high 13 rebounds to lead the DePauw effort. Steve LeMasters contributed 10 points off the bench, and Moore tallied
eight points and eight assists.
DePauw improved to 5-2 with the victory, while
Rose-Hulman dropped to 3-7 on the campaign. The Engineers
return to action with a Wednesday night home matchup against
Blackburn College at 7 p.m.
