TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology rallied from a 12-point second-half deficit to earn a 58-48 victory over Earlham College in men's basketball action on Saturday at Hulbert Arena.

With the victory, the Engineers regained the John Mutchner Cup, presented to the winner of each men's basketball matchup between the two colleges.

Rose-Hulman has won the Mutchner Cup, named for the standout student-athlete at Earlham who later served as basketball coach and athletic director for the Engineers for 25 years, during four of the last five seasons.

Senior Ron George (Louisville, Ky./Manual) led three Rose-Hulman players in double figures with 19 points on 6-11 from the field and 7-7 from the line.  He tallied 17 of his 19 points in the second half.

Junior Lorenzo Rice (Grandview, Mo.) added a season-high 12 points on 5-6 from the field.  Freshman Daniel Lowers (Ellettsville/ Edgewood) also pitched in with 11 points and a game-high four steals.  Junior Jared Moore (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian) added eight rebounds and four assists, along with five points.

Tristian Gregory led all scorers with 24 points on 8-16 from the field to lead the Earlham offense.  Neil Collins added eight points for the Quakers.

Earlham held a 39-27 lead on a layup by Tarrell Berry with 11:30 left in the second half.  The Engineers marched back with 10 consecutive points over a three-minute span, closing within 39-37 on back-to-back field goals from Rice and George.

The Engineers regained the lead at 44-41 on a three-pointer by sophomore Jeff McCartney (Wooster, Ohio/Triway) with 7:34 left in the contest.  The lead reached seven points on four straight from Lowers to give Rose-Hulman a 52-45 margin and secure the victory.

Rose-Hulman improved to 3-6 on the season, while Earlham dropped to 2-6.  The Engineers return to action on Monday night, hosting DePauw University at 7:30 at Hulbert Arena.
