TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Hanover College relied on a
balanced scoring attack to top Rose-Hulman 58-47 in the
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball opener
for both schools on Saturday.Clint
Parker scored 13 points, with Jake Inman and Eric Parker adding
10 each for the Panthers.
Senior Jared Moore (Indianapolis/ Perry
Meridian) scored a career-high and game-high 17 points to
lead Rose-Hulman's effort.
Sophomore Jeff McCartney (Wooster, Ohio/Triway)
tied his career-high with 10 points and added four rebounds.
Freshman Daniel Lowers
(Ellettsville/Edgewood) also reached double figures with 10
points and seven rebounds. Senior Phil Sundling
(Huntington/North) pitched in with four assists and six
rebounds for the Engineers.
Hanover shot 48% from the field in the second
half to pull away from a tight contest and earn the victory.
The Panthers extended their lead to 16 points at 36-20 with
17:41 left, before Rose-Hulman rallied to close within nine
points at 47-38 on a three-pointer by Moore at the 7:07 mark.
The Panthers then responded with five
consecutive points to secure their fifth win of the season.
Hanover stands 5-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.
Rose-Hulman dropped to 1-5 on the campaign and
0-1 in conference matchups. The Engineers travel to
Franklin College for a 7:30 p.m. matchup on Wednesday night.
