  Rose-Hulman News Hot Shooting Leads Mount St. Joseph Past Rose-Hulman

Brian Bibb led the offense with 19 points.

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Mount St. Joseph shot 50% from the field and placed three players in double figures to defeat Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 67-46 in men's basketball action on Wednesday night.

 

Rose-Hulman senior Brian Bibb (Hoopeston, Ill.) led all scorers with 19 points and had a game-high seven rebounds.  Bibb buried a trio of three-pointers and finished 8-17 from the field.

 

Sophomore Lorenzo Rice (Grandview, Mo.) added seven points off the bench, while junior Jared Moore (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian) had five points and five assists.

 

Tony Blomer led the Lions offense with 18 points on 6-8 from the floor.  Michael Romes added 14 points and Jeff Perry hit double figures with 12.

 

Mount St. Joseph shot 48% from the field and held the Engineers to 33% to earn a 33-24 lead at the break.  The Engineers rallied from a 30-17 deficit with a 6-0 run late in the half to move within 30-24.  Senior Jason Bednarko (Athens, Ill.) capped the run with a three-pointer.

Mount St. Joseph opened the second half with a 10-4 run to push the lead to 15 points at 43-28.  The Engineers were unable to dent the lead, as the Lions hit 52% of their second half shots.

Mount St. Joseph improved to 8-5 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play and 11-10 overall, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 8-15 and 4-10 in league play.  The Engineers host Defiance College in Senior Day at Hulbert Arena on Saturday at 3 p.m.
