Three in Double Figures Not Enough as Mount St. Joseph Tops Engineers

Ross Uthoff scored a career-high 14 points for the Engineers.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed three players in double figures, but Mount St. Joseph shot 52% from the field to earn a 77-61 men's basketball victory on Wednesday night.

 

Tony Blomer led the victorious Lions with 23 points.  Michael Romes added 14 points, Michael Eirons scored 11 and Robbie Noschang pitched in with 10 points for the Lions.

 

Senior Brian Bibb (Hoopeston, Ill.) led the Engineers with 16 points and nine rebounds. 

Junior Ross Uthoff (Crete, Ill./ Illinois Lutheran) added a career-high 14 points in his first college start.

 

Lorenzo Rice added a season-best 13 points.
Sophomore Lorenzo Rice (Grandview, Mo.) rounded out the double figure scorers for Rose-Hulman with a season-high 13 points.  Junior Phil Sundling (Huntington/North) added seven rebounds and four assists, along with two points.

 

Mount St. Joseph jumped out to a 14-point halftime lead based on 53% shooting from the field.  The Engineers relied on a conventional three-point play by Bibb to tie the score at 12-12, before the Lions went on a 14-2 run to take a 12-point lead that they would not relinquish.

 

Mount St. Joseph improved to 8-6 on the season and 5-2 in conference play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 5-10 overall and 1-6 in league contests.  The Engineers host Manchester in another Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at 3 p.m.
