TERRE HAUTE, IND. --
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Reed Eason
(St. Louis, Mo./ Parkway North) has been named a first-team
preseason All-American by d3football.com, in results released today
by the website.
Eason, who was also named a
second-team preseason All-American by Lindy's Football Magazine
earlier this summer, has recorded 84 pass
receptions for 968 yards and 10 touchdowns in his two years as a Fightin' Engineer.
Eason needs 16 receptions to become the 10th
player in school history with 100 catches and needs 106 receiving
yards to move into Rose-Hulman's career top 10 list.
Last season, Eason caught 37
passes for 433 yards and five touchdowns. He earned first-team
all-league honors as a tight end and was the second-team punter
after averaging 38.4 yards per kick and landing 15 boots inside the
opponent's 20-yard line.
The mechanical engineering
major has been named all-North Region during each of his college
seasons by d3football.com. Eason has recorded single-game
highs of 121 receiving yards and nine receptions, while also rushing
for 84 yards and an 8.4 average per carry as the team's Wildcat
formation quarterback last fall.
Rose-Hulman finished the
season with a 7-3 record for the second consecutive year in 2008 and
earned an outright second-place finish in the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference. The Engineers open the season on Sept. 5
at Earlham College.
