TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology senior cornerback Nick Murphy (Casey,
Ill./Casey-Westfield) and sophomore placekicker Nick
Schneider (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) have been named
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for
their efforts on Saturday.
Murphy was named HCAC
Defensive Player of the Week, while Schneider captured the weekly
honor for Special Teams Player of the Week.
Murphy recorded a career-high
eight tackles in the secondary as part of Rose-Hulman's team
defensive effort that held North Park to just 194 yards in the 48-17
victory.
The civil engineering major hauled in one
interception and added one pass deflection in the effort. The
Engineers allowed just 47 rushing yards and 147 passing yards on 29
attempts during the contest.

a perfect 6-6 on extra points and hit field goals of 42 and 30
yards. |
Schneider finished a perfect
2-2 on field goals and added a 6-6 performance on extra points to
lead the special teams effort.
His 42-yard field goal in the
first quarter marked a career-long effort and put the Engineers
ahead 17-7. Later, Schneider added a 30-yard field goal and
stands 3-3 on the season in field goals.
The mechanical engineering
major also leads the HCAC
in extra points and extra point accuracy at a perfect 14-14 through
two weeks.
Rose-Hulman stands 2-0 on the
season and returns to action at Greenville College on Saturday
afternoon.
