Reed Eason Named Sporting News Football Preseason All-American

Reed Eason (45) -- Preseason first-team All-American

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology sophomore tight end Reed Eason (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) has been named a preseason first-team NCAA Division III All-American in the Sporting News College Football Preview Magazine.

Eason made 47 receptions for 535 yards and five touchdowns to lead Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tight ends during a freshman campaign that featured league Freshman of the Year honors.

In addition, Eason was named a first-team all-conference performer and captured second-team all-district accolades from d3football.com last season.

Eason joins Rose-Hulman's Paul Spreen as a first-team preseason All-American. Spreen was named a first-team All-American by Lindy's Football Magazine last month.

Rose-Hulman finished 7-3 last season under head coach Steve Englehart and begins the 2008 campaign on September 6 with a 6:30 home game against Earlham College.
