TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Heidelberg College scored one run in the ninth inning to break a scoreless tie against the College of Wooster and advance to the championship game of the NCAA Division III Mideast Baseball Regional on Friday.

Everett Thomas tossed the complete game two-hitter on the mound to move to 8-1 for the Student Princes.  He struck out three and pitched around four walks in a 121-pitch effort.

Adam Samson earned the loss in a well pitched second complete game of the tournament.  Samson scattered seven hits and allowed only the ninth inning run with five strikeouts to finish the season with a 7-3 record.

Heidelberg opened the bottom of the ninth with a single to the shortstop by Jason Lash.  Matt Grassley sacrificed Lash to second base and, after an intentional walk, the winning run scored on an infield single by Steve Decker.

Jeremy Wentworth led the Student Princes with three singles, while Grassley had a double for the winners.  Jake Sankal and Stu Beath slapped singles for Wooster.

Heidelberg advanced to the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional title round against Adrian College at noon on Saturday.  Wooster completed the season with a 36-11 record and won the North Coast Athletic Conference Eastern Division title.
