TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned its first NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament victory in school history with a 4-0 victory over Calvin College in game three of the Mideast Regional on Wednesday.

Derek Eitel tossed a three-hitter in the second shutout of his college career that featured a career-high 13 strikeouts.  Eitel pitched around five walks to improve to 9-3 on the season.

Offensively, Michael Matsui slapped a pair of two-run singles to provide all four RBIs in the victory.  Andrew Bilse and Gabe Focke contributed three hits each, including one double.

The Calvin offense featured singles by Kyle Fletcher, Jason May and Drew Johnson.  The Knights loaded the bases in the ninth inning, before Eitel ended the game with back-to-back strikeouts.

The Engineers earned their first NCAA Tournament victory in their third Regional appearance.  Rose-Hulman is serving as host for the Mideast Regional for the third time in the last four years.

Rose-Hulman stands 32-13 on the season and returns to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday against Adrian College.  Calvin dropped to 32-9 and will square off against Heidelberg College at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
