TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Heidelberg
College forced a second championship game of the NCAA Division III
Mideast Baseball Regional with an 8-2 victory over Adrian College at
Rose-Hulman on Saturday.
The two teams will meet again
in a winner-take-all championship game at 3 p.m. today. The
winner will make its first trip to the NCAA Division III National
Championship round.
Heidelberg rallied from a 2-1
deficit with four runs in the seventh, two in the eighth and one in
the ninth to earn their 41st win of the season. Jason Lash led
the offense with three hits and two RBIs.
L.B. Emrhein, Gar Keen, Matt
Grassley and Willie Brechun added two hits for Heidelberg.
Keen had three RBIs and a two-run double, with Brechun contributing
a pair of doubles.
Adrian scored a pair of runs
in the sixth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Nate Sarkissian and
Steve Vanderheyden had two hits each for the Bulldogs.
Heidelberg stands 41-9 on the
season, while Adrian is 33-11. The final title game begins at
3 p.m.
