TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology senior Michael Matsui (Joliet, Ill./ Plainfield
South) finished with a perfect 2-0 record during the team's
baseball spring trip to earn Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference Pitcher of the Week honors.
Matsui finished with a 2.45
earned run average in two starts to lead Rose-Hulman’s pitching staff on its
annual Florida trip.
Matsui allowed one earned run
in five innings to pick up a win over St. Vincent, then tossed six innings of
two-run ball in a victory over York.
For the week, Matsui pitched 11
innings, allowed 12 hits and two walks, while recording seven strikeouts.
The Engineers stand 6-3 overall
this season and hosts Illinois Wesleyan University and Chicago in the
Rose-Hulman Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Art Nehf Field.
