TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team improved to 12-5 on the season with a 3-0 and 20-3 doubleheader sweep over Robert Morris-Springfield on Saturday.

Sophomore pitcher Derek Eitel (Marshall, Ill.) tossed his first career shutout with a two-hitter in a 3-0 victory in the opener.  Eitel struck out five, walked none and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

Miles Morris slapped an opposite way single with one out in the sixth inning to break up Eitel's no-hit bid.  Ryan Butcher added an infield single in the seventh for the only other hit.

Offensively, sophomore Chandler Kent (Antioch, Ill.) led the Engineers with three hits, including a double, and scored one run in the opener.  Sophomore Andrew Bilse (Munster) added a two-RBI single in the sixth to secure the game one victory.

In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman scored 11 runs in the fifth inning to break open an 8-3 contest to earn its 12th win of the season.

Sophomore Tim Tepe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) led the offensive charge with three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs.  Kent pitched in with three runs scored, two singles and two RBIs, and senior Alex Decker (Seymour) scored three runs, slapped two hits and had two RBIs.

Other Rose-Hulman players with multiple hits in the victory included sophomore Kirk Thompson (Harrisburg, Ill.) with two singles and one RBI; senior Gabe Focke (St. Leon/East Central) with two hits, including a double, and three RBIs; and freshman Reed Eason (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) with two singles, two RBIs and one run scored.

Bilse, sophomore Keenan Long (Park Ridge, Ill./Northwestern University) and freshman Kreigh Williams (Ossian/Norwell) also scored two runs each for the Engineers.

Rose-Hulman improved to 12-5 on the season with the victory and returns to action in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener at Manchester College next weekend.  The Engineers and Spartans will compete in a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
