TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team picked up its tenth win of the season defeating visiting Adrian College 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore pitcher Derek Eitel (Marshall, Ill.) earned the win, tossing eight strong innings for the Engineers.  Eitel gave up only two runs on five hits and struck out four Adrian batters.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, plating two runs in the top of the first inning on two run single by Brett Miskokomon.

Rose-Hulman answered with three runs in the third after a pair of walks and an errant throw by the Adrian catcher set up an RBI single by sophomore Chandler Kent (Antioch, Ill.).  Kent then stole second base setting up the two-out two-run single by sophomore Keenan Long (Park Ridge, Ill./Northwestern Univ.) that gave the Engineers a 3-2 advantage.

Eitel then shut down the Bulldogs scattering three hits over the next five innings preserving the Rose-Hulman lead.  Senior Sam Deters (Teutopolis, Ill.) came out of the bullpen to pick up his fourth save of the season, and 15th of his career, allowing just one Adrian baserunner in the ninth.

Senior Gabe Focke (St. Leon, Ind./East Central) finished the afternoon going two-for-four at the plate improving his average to .333 on the year.

The win improves the Engineers to 10-5 on the season, while Adrian drops to 7-3.  Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday, March 22, when they host Robert Morris-Springfield for a double-header at Art Nehf field beginning at 1 p.m.
