LEESBURG, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stands at 5-2 on its annual baseball Spring Trip to Florida after splitting a doubleheader against John Carroll University on Thursday.

The Engineers rallied from a 5-1 deficit with one run in the fifth and a four-spot in the sixth to capture a 7-5 victory.  Senior Alex Decker (Seymour) keyed the four-run rally with his first career home run.

Junior Andrew Pinkstaff (Vincennes/ Lincoln) added three hits and scored two runs, while freshman Michael Kovacs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) added a two-run pinch-hit double.

On the mound, senior Luis Bougrat (Franklin, Tenn./Battle Ground Academy) tossed five innings to pick up his first victory of the season.  Senior Sam Deters (Teutopolis, Ill.) tallied his second save of the trip and the school record 13th of his career with two shutout innings.

In the nightcap, John Carroll relied on a consistent offensive effort to pick up a 10-5 victory.  Sophomore Andrew Bilse (Munster) and sophomore Kirk Thompson (Harrisburg, Ill.) led the Engineer offense with two hits.  Freshman Nick Rumpke (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming) scattered five hits and allowed two runs in 4.2 innings in his first college start.

Rose-Hulman and John Carroll each stand 5-2 on the season.  The Engineers square off with Johnson and Wales College in a single nine-inning game on Friday at 11 a.m.
