Rose-Hulman News Gabe Focke Named HCAC Baseball Player of the Week

Gabe Focke slapped seven hits in eight at bats against Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Gabe Focke (St. Leon/East Central) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week following his efforts against Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday.

Focke finished 7-8 at the plate for an .875 batting average in the doubleheader, including a five-hit performance in the second game that ranks second on Rose-Hulman's all-time list for hits in a game.

The left-handed hitting outfielder slapped seven singles, drove home three runs and scored once during the doubleheader sweep.  With his efforts, Focke improved his season batting to an impressive .560.

Focke earned his first career Conference Player of the Week award and the first for Rose-Hulman as a baseball member of the HCAC.

Rose-Hulman improved to 5-3 overall and returns to action with games against Mount Union and Concordia Chicago next Saturday at Art Nehf Field.
