TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute
of Technology
junior Gabe Focke (St. Leon/East Central) was named the Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week following his efforts
against Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday.
Focke finished 7-8 at the plate for an .875
batting average in the doubleheader, including a five-hit performance in the
second game that ranks second on Rose-Hulman's all-time list for hits in a game.
The left-handed hitting outfielder slapped
seven singles, drove home three runs and scored once during the doubleheader
sweep. With his efforts, Focke improved his season batting to an
impressive .560.
Focke earned his first career Conference
Player of the Week award and the first for Rose-Hulman as a baseball member of
the HCAC.
Rose-Hulman improved to 5-3 overall and
returns to action with games against Mount Union and Concordia Chicago next
Saturday at Art Nehf Field.
