Matt Salisbury became
Rose-Hulman's all-time leader
in hits on this swing to lead the Engineer offense. |
TERRE HAUTE, IND. -
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Matt Salisbury (Fort Wayne/
Homestead) became a part of Engineer history in two categories, but Anderson
University earned a dramatic 8-6 extra inning victory at Art Nehf Field on
Tuesday.
Salisbury set a
career school record for hits and tied the Engineer mark for runs scored.
Salisbury slapped a fourth-inning single for his 187th career hit to pass the
record established by 2002 graduate Cort Severns. In the sixth inning, he
scored career run number 146 to tie a mark set by Matt Moore in 2004.
Ryne Foster blasted a
three-run home run with two outs in the 11th inning to snap a 5-5 tie and give
the Ravens the dramatic victory.
Rose-Hulman rallied
from a 3-0 deficit with two runs in the sixth inning to close within 3-2.
Freshman Chandler Kent (Antioch, Ill.) opened the rally with a single and
advanced to third on a double by Salisbury.
