Rose-Hulman News Nine Late Runs Lead Rose-Hulman Past Greenville 10-1

Box Score

Todd Clementoni tossed seven strong innings to earn the win.

TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored nine runs in its final two at bats to turn a 1-1 tie into a 10-1 victory over Greenville College in college baseball action on Tuesday night.

Senior Todd Clementoni (Muncy, Pa.) dueled with Kyle Bruce of Greenville into a 1-1 tie into the bottom of the seventh.  The Engineers then scored three times in the seventh to take a 4-1 advantage.

Senior Tim Braun (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice) and senior Kellen Hurst (Noblesville) sparked the seventh-inning rally with back-to-back doubles, before a Greenville fielding error brought home the final run of the frame.

In the eighth, Rose-Hulman added six runs to secure the final margin of victory.  The Engineers took advantage of singles by senior Adam Knaack (McHenry, Ill./West) and sophomore Andrew Pinkstaff (Vincennes/Lincoln), along with three walks and two Greenville errors in the inning.

Salisbury led the offense with two runs scored, two walks, two RBIs and his 51st career double, while tallying the 100th RBI of his career on a walk in the eighth inning.  Hurst scored once and added two RBIs with his double, while Braun had two runs for the Engineers.

The outburst made a winner of Clementoni, who scattered eight hits and allowed just one run in seven strong innings of work.  Clementoni improved to 2-1 on the season and added four strikeouts to earn the victory.

Rose-Hulman improved to 14-10 overall, while Greenville dropped to 13-11.  The Engineers travel to the University of Chicago for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday.
