Rose Celebrates 100th Season of Basketball; Carr,
Mutchner Scholarship Drives Underway
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology celebrated its 100th
season of basketball as part of a Feb. 9 doubleheader with Defiance that
included a postgame dinner for more than 200 guests.
The festivities included introductions of over 75
returning alumni at halftime of the men’s game against Defiance that was
played in front of the largest home crowd this season.
The reception and dinner featured speakers from the three
major eras of Rose-Hulman’s basketball history -- spans coached by Jim
Carr, John Mutchner and Jim Shaw. Both Mutchner and Shaw were featured
speakers in the ceremony, and Carr was remembered after passing away
last December.

established. The Jim Carr Memorial Scholarship was introduced by Hal
Brown, while the John Mutchner Appreciation Scholarship was introduced
