Scott Grubbs finished unbeaten in doubles play. |
TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology tennis teams combined for victory in the first
Franklin College Coed Tournament held on Sunday.
The Fightin' Engineers defeated Earlham College 6-2,
Hanover College 7-2 and Franklin College 6-3 to capture victory in
the four-team event.
Undefeated players in singles play included
senior Sam Danesis (Akron, Ohio/Revere) on the women's
side and senior Michael Schoumacher (Memphis, Tenn./White
Station) in men's action.
A pair of mixed doubles teams also had perfect
results for Rose-Hulman. The tandem of senior Scott
Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) and junior Megan Chann
(Columbia, Mo.) won at the No. 1 slot.

At the No. 2 position, junior David Becerra (Brownsburg/Covenant
Christian) and freshman Melissa Montgomery
(Alexandria/Munroe) also finished unblemished for the Engineers.
The women's tennis squad is off to its best start in program history
at 4-0, while the men's team will play during the spring campaign.
