Rhys Evans -- HCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior soccer player Rhys Evans (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) and junior football linebacker Scott Eaton (Fishers/ Hamilton Southeastern) were named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for their efforts on Saturday.

Evans scored the lone goal in Rose-Hulman's 1-0 victory over perennial league power Transylvania University.  His second half score propelled the Engineers into first place in the league standings, with a win over last year's conference runner-up.

Evans, the reigning HCAC Most Valuable Player, has scored two goals with one assist for the 3-4-1 Engineers.  His career totals of 23 goals and 52 points each rank sixth in Rose-Hulman history.

Eaton paced Rose-Hulman's defensive effort with 12 tackles in a narrow 19-18 loss to Greenville.  He recorded six solo tackles and six assists, along with 1.5 tackles-for-loss, as Rose-Hulman held the Panthers to 195 yards of total offense.

On the season, Eaton leads the Rose-Hulman defense with 29 tackles and has added 2.5 tackles-for-loss.  The 12-tackle performance was the fourth double-digit tackle game in his Rose-Hulman career.

Rose-Hulman's soccer team returns home on Wednesday to square off with Illinois Wesleyan, while the football squad welcomes Mount St. Joseph in the HCAC opener this Saturday as part of Homecoming festivities.
