TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The
Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology men’s and women’s
tennis teams have
each earned all-academic
status from the
Intercollegiate Tennis Association, in results released today.
Rose-Hulman stands as one of only 27 NCAA
Division III institutions to have both its men's and women's programs earn
all-academic honors from the ITA. In the Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference, only Rose-Hulman and Manchester College earned the honor.
In addition, five individuals on Rose-Hulman's
tennis teams earned ITA Scholar Athlete recognition. From the women's
side, sophomore Sam Danesis (Akron, Ohio), senior Mandy Gehring
(Lyons), senior Mandy Grantz (Rapid City, S.D.) and junior Kristin
Wilson (Lake Zurich, Ill.) were honored, while 2007 graduate Joe Rottman
(Evansville) earned a men's award.

Individual players must maintain a 3.50
grade point average and earn a varsity letter to earn ITA Scholar Athlete
recognition. Teams must maintain an overall grade point average of 3.20 to
qualify for the award.
The Rose-Hulman men's tennis team has
achieved ITA All-Academic honors for five consecutive years, while the women's
squad has reached the plateau during five of the previous six years. Both
teams captured the award in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007.
Rose-Hulman opens the 2007-08 tennis
season with a women's appearance in the IU-Southeast Individual Tournament on
Saturday. |
