About Us |
|
The Source for Quality Hispanic Engineers and Technical Talent The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community We are brought together by heritage, social responsibility and desire to improve the equality of all people through the use of science and technology. We value excellence in education, professional pursuits and leadership. We obtain excellence through integrity, empowerment, achievement, diversity and continuous improvement.. LOCALLY : Locally, the Rose-Hulman Chapter of SHPE was granted chapter status with 20 members in the spring of 2006. The official recognition was given in the National Technical and Career Conference of 2007. The chapter was founded to help improve the Hispanic student experience at Rose-Hulman and to foster better relationships between the Hispanic/latino community and the school. Our main goal is to promote diversity at our school, and to promote engineering, math and science education with minorities, specially the Hispanics. We currently belong to Region 6! It’s important to mention that even if we have Hispanic in our name, we are an all inclusive non-profit organization. |
