ROSE-BUD
S-STEM Scholarship
Program in
Electrical and
Computer Engineering
Goal
The goal of the Rose
Building
Undergraduate
Diversity (ROSE-BUD)
program is to
broaden the
participation of
academically
talented students
majoring in
electrical and
computer
engineering. The
program is part of
National Science
Foundation's
efforts to encourage
more students toward
careers in science,
technology,
engineering and
mathematics (STEM).
Students may receive
up to $10,000 per
year to support
academic
scholarship.
Eligibility
One of the goals of
the program is to
build diversity
among electrical and
computer engineering
students. The
ROSE-BUD program is
a scholarship
program available to
academically
talented students
majoring in
electrical or
computer engineering
who demonstrate a
financial need with
special emphasis on
women and
minorities.
Eligible students
are freshmen or
transfer students
with a demonstrated
financial need who
have been accepted
to Rose-Hulman.
Through the
generosity of the
National Science
Foundation, the
ROSE-BUD program
will provide
financial support,
advising, mentoring,
networking and
professional
development. To be
eligible for the
ROSE-BUD Scholarship
Program students
must meet the
following criteria:

Be a US citizen or permanent resident |
| • |
Acceptance to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Apply for admission. |
| • |
Major in Electrical or Computer Engineering at Rose-Hulman. |
| • |
Demonstrate high academic qualification and professionalism |
| • |
Be eligible to receive federal financial aid and demonstrate an unmet need of at least $4,000 based on the Cost of Attendance (COA) minus the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). |
Activities
Special support
mechanisms will be
developed for both
scholarship
recipients and
current female and
minority students.
In preparation for
students to apply
for summer
internships, they
will be taught
professional skills
through the ROSE-BUD
program, including:
communication,
teamwork and
understanding ethics
and professionalism.
The students will
also have the
opportunity to
interact with
professionals and
upper-classmen.
Workshops and
seminars designed
around these topics
will be held each
academic year.
