Partnership Benefits Wabash Valley Companies
Rose-Hulman Ventures and the West Central Indiana Economic Development District have created a new
partnership to provide continued technical assistance to regional manufacturing companies through the Regional Manufacturing Partnership Program. The primary objective is to help regional companies improve their competitive position and retain jobs in the Wabash Valley, according to Jim Eifert, president of Rose-Hulman Ventures.
The West Central Indiana Economic Development District has spearheaded assistance programs for business and industry since 1989. Glenn Gee, program director says the partnership will expand a program that has already had an impact on economic development. “During its 12 years of operation, West Central’s business and industry assistance programs have helped about 300 manufacturers learn new ways to make their businesses more profitable and competitive. The partnership with Rose-Hulman Ventures will only enhance the program and strengthen regional companies.”
Rose-Hulman Ventures can increase the competitive edge of manufacturing companies by helping to improve obsolete technologies and assisting with new product development, Gee explained. The New Product Development Labs at Rose-Hulman Ventures offer a multidisciplinary approach to the design, development, fabrication, and testing of new product prototypes that can increase the efficiency and productivity of businesses, he said.
“The partnership is a natural extension of our efforts to move innovations into the commercial marketplace,” said Eifert.
In addition to new product development, the Regional Manufacturing Partnership Program provides assistance in the areas of financial evaluation, lean manufacturing, marketing awareness, quality efforts, and ISO 9000. Services not directly available in the program will be provided through cooperative alliances with Ivy Tech State College, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and the Technology Service Center at Indiana State University.
