High-Tech Start-Up Is Ready To Rock

MusicRebellion, an Internet digital music company, announced its official launch to 300 college campuses nationwide including Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. MusicRebellion, headquartered at Rose-Hulman Ventures, is where independent artists can sell their music to consumers for a download from its web site, www.musicrebellion.com.

To date, there are approximately 75,000 titles available. Among those are local artists Don Morris of Terre Haute, Push Down & Turn of Indianapolis, and nationally known R&B funk artist George Clinton.

Rex Fisher, chief operating officer of MusicRebellion said, “We have been preparing for the launch for months with a redesign of our web site and a significant addition of new artists. We are excited about providing a place where artists can deliver their music in a fair method.”

The most distinctive aspect of MusicRebellion is its patented dynamic pricing structure. This system provides consumer-driven pricing for any product offered. The price of any music file changes as demand for it changes. MusicRebellion will allow the delivery of music files at the lowest possible cost consistent with the market. Music consumers receive realistic pricing. Artists and record companies receive reasonable returns.

Fisher explained that the consumer provides credit card information and establishes an initial account of funds from which the user may draw for download purchases. By completing one transaction for several downloads, MusicRebellion lowers its costs and the consumer’s files are cheaper. Even the most expensive songs aren’t costly, with downloads typically ranging between $.15 and $.20 for a song and about $1.50 for a CD.

This high-tech start up has attracted many student employees from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Indiana State University. “These students are excited to be on the ground floor of an emerging company and are critical to the success of the business,” added Fisher.
