Rose-Hulman Ventures Invests in MusicRebellion
Rose-Hulman Ventures, a technology-based business incubator and product development center, announced that it will invest $50,000 in MusicRebellion.
MusicRebellion, headquartered at Rose-Hulman Ventures, is an Internet digital music company where independent artists can sell their music to customers who download it from the company’s web site, musicrebellion.com. The company focuses on the security of digital content and development of a fair method of e-commerce.
The most distinctive aspect of MusicRebellion is its patented dynamic pricing structure. This system provides consumer-driven pricing for any product offered. The price of any music file changes as demand for it changes. MusicRebellion will allow the delivery of music files at the lowest possible cost consistent with the market. Music consumers receive realistic pricing. Artists and record companies receive reasonable returns.
Rex Fisher, chief operating officer of MusicRebellion said, “Rose-Hulman Ventures is an important ingredient in our strategic planning efforts. They are providing resources for business and technical development that will enable us to launch on schedule in early August.”
This high-tech start up has attracted many student employees from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Indiana State University. “These students are excited to be on the ground floor of an emerging company and are critical to the success of the business”, added Fisher.
Jim Eifert, president of Rose-Hulman Ventures said, “ We look forward to assisting MusicRebellion in their creative approach which fairly and legally delivers music to the consumer.”
Rose-Hulman Ventures is creating economic growth and career opportunities for technical professionals in Indiana. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was awarded a $29.7 million grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. to establish Rose-Hulman Ventures.
For the third consecutive year, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is ranked No. 1 by U.S. News and World Report magazine among all colleges and universities that offer the master’s as the top degree in engineering. The ranking is based on a national survey of higher-education engineering educators.
