Favorite Class:

It is very hard to narrow down to one particular favorite class because I truly think that most professors at Rose-Hulman do a great job teaching classes.  No matter whether I take a class that strictly pertains to my major or I take a humanities class, I always have a great learning experience in each.

My job was to make a protocol that could be used to test for either RNA or DNA viruses.  I am continuing this research during the school year and, hopefully, I will be able to discover the new virus that is responsible for amphibian decline.

Why Rose-Hulman:

When I was a senior in high school, I was working on a two-year research project and my school did not have the necessary equipment for me to run the necessary tests that I needed for my project.  I called Rose-Hulman and a professor from the Department of Applied Biology and Biomedical Engineering set up a time to meet with me and to let me use equipment.  I was so impressed by Rose-Hulman's generosity that the institution showed me.  I knew that Rose-Hulman was the place for me.  I felt welcome and I knew that I would be challenged here.

Being a Female Student at Rose-Hulman:

I don't really notice the female/male ratio.  At Rose-Hulman, everyone is part of the big family!

Why Science:

My goal is to attend either medical school or graduate school, so I knew that coming to Rose-Hulman would challenge me.  I would be prepared for whatever I decide to pursue.

Why Being an Orientation Leader:

I wanted to give back to Rose-Hulman.  When I was a freshman, that first week of New Student Orientation was an amazing experience.  I got to meet my classmates and learn about the college.  So, this year I decided that I wanted to help the freshmen class to have an amazing experience at Rose-Hulman by helping with the orientation program.

Best Aspect About Rose-Hulman:

Professors really care about educating you.  I am not a number but part of the big family here at Rose-Hulman.

What I Wish Someone Would Have Told Me About Rose-Hulman Before I Arrived:

Make sure you know how to study efficiently.

Future Goals and Aspiration:

Either medical school or graduate school, I am struggling still to decide.  My overall goal is to use my education to better my community in some form.
