Why Rose-Hulman? |
I have family in the Terre Haute area and I like the family atmosphere on campus. I had visited the campus a lot during my youth. During my freshman year in high school I did a research
paper about Rose-Hulman. After all, the college is No. 1 in the U.S. News and World Report’s annual College Guide! Then I attended Operation Catapult (summer education program) in 2005 and fell in love with the place. I
like the small class, the personal attention and hands-on laboratory settings. We have all kinds of experiences. |
|
Life at Rose-Hulman |
Yes, Rose-Hulman is a lot of work, but we have some fun, too. Everyone is working hard. You help each other out. I have moments, like everyone else, when I get tired. However, I know it is worth it. With
the services that Rose-Hulman provides, you can’t go wrong. Also, I know that I’m learning how to handle similar stressful situations when I leave Rose-Hulman . . . NSBE has provided me great leadership experience. NSBE
is a family. We make friends with others and I have been able to meet other college students at NSBE regional and national conferences. I find that these other students have similar interests and life experiences . . .
Rose-Hulman is truly a family atmosphere. I am still living on campus with the roommate from my freshman year. |
|
Being a Minority Student at Rose-Hulman |
I have found that all students on campus are working toward the same goals and aspirations. We just may have come from different perspectives and life experiences. At Rose-Hulman,
you’re going to encounter the same situations as you will in engineering during your career. If you can fit in well here, you’re going to be successful in your post-graduate career. |
|
Why Engineering? |
It’s a lot of work, but the benefits are great. I wanted a challenge. I have always been interested in how medical devices can help patients and improve health care. I want to use
my experience in biomedical engineering to help others. |
|
Helping Rose-Hulman Students Succeed |
As a New Student Orientation Leader, I want to help people make a successful transition from high school to Rose-Hulman. The students are at an exciting stage in their lives. I want
them to get the most out of their Rose-Hulman experience and make friendships that will last a lifetime. |
|
What I’m Doing This Summer |
Taking summer school courses in Conservation and Accounting Principles, Statistics and Technical Communications – hoping to get ahead for a challenging final two years at Rose-Hulman.
While I like to read, I’m not a great writer. I’m looking forward to Technical Communications to help me in the future. |
|
The Future |
Work in the medical industry, possibly in developing medical devices and equipment, following graduation. |
