I liked getting to work with electricians, welders and pipe fitters, skilled trade workers that really know what they’re doing and how to get a job done. I learned how smart other people are and that
while I may have a college education, I am not too smart to listen and learn from others.

What I Learned At Rose-Hulman: Rose-Hulman prepared me to solve the problems, but also to take and use the experience of others. You don’t always have the solutions. You need to listen to
other people’s ideas in order to build a better mouse trap. Education is No. 1. College is a time for people to find out what’s important. I’m definitely different than when I came to Rose-Hulman. The educational
side definitely helped define my engineering and problem solving skills. The people (faculty members, staff members and classmates) helped shape the personal side. There are times when you don’t want to be
here, like ninth week of the winter quarter, but you figure out why you’re here. And, when you’re gone for a quarter or holiday break, you can’t wait to get back to campus. I’ve lost track of how many all-nighters
that I have had here. But I won’t ever forget the good times I had with my friends on campus and Brothers at the fraternity house.
|
|
|
Role at Rose-Hulman: I know I’m not in the top 10 percent of my class at Rose-Hulman. You don’t have to be to be successful here. In high school, I was always the kid that people come to for
help. Now, I have been put in situations where I have had to seek help from others. It can be a humbling experience. However, we have all made it through Rose-Hulman together. I have tried to get the most
out of my Rose-Hulman experience.
