Alpha Chi Sigma (AΧΣ), originally chartered in 1909, is a professional fraternity for students majoring in chemical engineering, chemistry, and other closely allied fields. Membership is by invitation, biennially, and is open to anyone, from RHIT, ISU, and SMWC, who desire a career in some profession that applies chemistry.

Its national membership and the local well-networked Iota Chapter strive to promote chemistry as a science and as a profession, and aid its members in their professions after graduation. Local professional activities include presentations by various speakers from management, science, and engineering fields, tours of local chemical industries, leadership and mentoring programs.

AΧΣ is known for its sponsorship of the Chemistry on Wheels Program since 1990. This student supervised activity is an outreach program for K-12 students interested in science, engineering and mathematics. Collegiate members also provide tutoring services for their peers.
