Student Employment Opportunities
The Learning Center tutoring programs offer an excellent opportunity for students to help their peers while also earning some extra money.
Learning Center Tutor
Our peer tutoring programs help Rose-Hulman students in one or more of the following areas: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Sophomore Curriculum and Writing.
English as a Second Language (ESL) tutors provide individual tutoring and lead conversation groups.
Tutors must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patience, confidentiality and a strong knowledge base in their tutoring subjects.
Time Commitment: The Learning Center is staffed by tutors Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Learning Center directors work with each tutor to plan a convenient work schedule of at least 3 hours per week. Tutors are scheduled each quarter. Tutors also attend monthly meetings and assist with other Learning Center programs.
Sophomore Resident Tutor

Sophomore Resident tutors are Learning Center tutors who live in Percopo Hall and the New Hall and provide academic assistance to students in the halls, primarily at the sophomore level. There are six tutors in Percopo Hall and 2 in the New Hall. In addition to meeting the requirements of a Learning Center tutor, Sophomore Resident tutors must be able to work independently with a high level of confidentiality, maturity and enthusiasm. They must have a strong knowledge base in their tutoring subjects, particularly at the sophomore level.
Time Commitment: Sophomore Resident tutors (both Percopo and New Hall) will staff the classroom in the hall from Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Each week, Sophomore Resident tutors are scheduled to work two evenings in the classroom, two daytime hours in the Learning Center and four "office hours" in their resident hall room.
