A primary goal of the JRSI Orthopaedic Biomedical Engineering
Laboratory is to conduct meaningful research in the field of
implant design and surgical technique in order to improve the
longevity of total joint replacement procedures. Students, faculty,
and surgeons work in collaboration using the latest software and
testing equipment to evaluate current and future technologies with
our industry partners. Our research has historically focused
on the intricate biomechanical relationship between how a
prosthesis is designed, how it is implanted, and how that implant
affects the biomechanics of the human skeleton.
