Dr. Berend graduated from Hanover College and the Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Berend was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed fellowships in joint replacement surgery at the Center for Hip and Knee Surgery, and in sports medicine at the University of Maryland.

Robert A. Malinzak
Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Malinzak received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in 1999 and undergraduate degree from Davidson College. He served his Orthopaedic Residency at Duke University, with a fellowship in Joint Reconstruction and Sports Medicine at the Center for Hip & Knee Surgery in Mooresville, and training at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Van Nuys, California.

John R. Meding
Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Meding graduated from Milligan College and the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati and a fellowship in adult reconstruction and sports medicine at the Center for Hip and Knee Surgery with specialty training in sports shoulder disorders and hip and knee reconstruction and replacement.

Merrill A. Ritter
Orthopaedic Surgeon, Research Foundation Executive Director
Dr. Ritter is an internationally respected lecturer, teacher and researcher who has presented orthopedic topics and intra-operative instruction throughout the world. He has published hundreds of professional articles and done numerous presentations. Dr. Ritter studied in England with Sir John Charnley, master surgeon and pioneer of the world's first workable total hip replacement.
