About JRSI
The Joint Replacement Surgeons of Indiana (JRSI) Foundation is a
501(c)3 not-for-profit medical research organization based at the
Center for Hip & Knee
Surgery at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville,
Indiana. The organizational mission of the JRSI Foundation
is: To foster the advancement of hip and knee replacement
surgical procedures, implants, and survivorship in order to improve
the long-term function and well-being of the patients who suffer
from debilitating arthritis and associated disorders.

The JRSI Foundation was incorporated in 2002 under the direction
of Merrill A. Ritter, MD in order to establish an organization
focused on the long-term clinical success of hip and knee
replacement surgeries. Two primary organizational focuses
exist: (1) To discern the effective treatment of hip and knee
arthritis; sharing data through peer-reviewed manuscripts to
ultimately improve patient care and outcomes. (2) To educate
undergraduate, graduate, medical students, fellows and surgeons in
the investigation and application of the current best practices in
total joint replacement.
In addition to its collaboration with Rose-Hulman in biomedical
engineering research, JRSI Foundation actively evaluates surgical
technique and clinical practices through clinical trials and
through clinical records of greater than 25,000 knee and hip
replacement surgeries conducted by our orthopaedic surgeons over
the past 30 years. At the main offices in Mooresville,
Indiana, the JRSI Foundation maintains an active summer student
research internship program, sponsors surgical fellowships, and
hosts an annual orthopaedic research symposium each May.
