Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
In the Hulman Memorial Union: Room 135 - Lower Level.
When are you open?
The Health Services office is open daily during the school year, except for scheduled student breaks. Patients are seen on a first come, first served basis. Office Hours.
Why aren't you open 24/7?
In order to keep the clinic free for students we have to carefully monitor our budget and it would be too expensive to operate a clinic that is open all the time. Our clinic hours are also dictated by our doctor's schedule so that we can ensure the doctor is available during open hours. Please note, the clinic is open during student lunch hours for your convenience.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment is needed. Just sign in when you enter the office.
How much does it cost?
Health services for current students are covered by tuition and fees. There are no charges for current students - all health services are free.
Where do I go if I get really sick or have an emergency?
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. For non-emergency situations visit a local medical office if the Rose-Hulman Health Services office is closed. See a list of local facilities.
Are the staff trained medical professionals?
A board certified licensed physician and a registered nurse staff the Student Health Service.

We provide care for acute illness (cold, flu, injury, etc). We give allergy injections per your physician's orders. We can store medications, provide basic injury care and give referrals to community resources for other needs.
Can you help me if I'm injured? What if I'm an athlete and it's off-season?
If you're an athlete currently off-season we recommend you stop by the clinic before seeing your trainer. We do provide basic injury care including some x-ray capability, cut repair, wound care, limited orthopedic splinting, bracing, and rehabilitation.
Do I need Rose-Hulman insurance to use the health clinic?
No, as long as you are a registered student you can see our doctor free of charge. However, if you are sent into the community for medical services, you will need health insurance either through your parents' insurance or Rose-Hulman student insurance.
