Using the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (SMWC) College Library

Rooney Library policies for non-SMWC users

  • Anyone can search the shared online catalog at
  • You may check out SMWC materials by presenting your library card/ID at the library main desk. 

To specifically see what SMWC owns, you can click on "St. Mary of the Woods" under the "Collection" facet on the left side of the results list.

Non-SMWC users are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that the item needed is available. Call the library main desk at 812-535-5255 and ask the staff member to retrieve the item from the stacks to be held for you to pick up. You may return borrowed items to any local library for transport back to SMWC.

You may also request SMWC items through your library's interlibrary loan office based on your home library's policies.

Books can be checked out for three weeks and DVDs for one week.

Access to library databases require user authentication from off campus. Databases can be used by anyone who visits Rooney Library in person. Printing is free of charge. A wireless network is also available in the library building.

The library features the Jazzman's coffee shop on the first floor. Call 812-535-5255 to inquire about Jazzman's hours of operation.
