Venture Capitalist, Entrepreneurship Expert Gets Honorary Degree
Felda Hardymon, PhD, one of the world’s notable experts in entrepreneurship education and venture capital, received an honorary doctorate degree during Rose-Hulman's 135th commencement on May 25. A 1969 Rose-Hulman mathematics alumnus, Hardymon is a partner with Bessemer Venture Partners, teaches at the Harvard Business School and London School of Economics, and has been named several times to the Forbes Midas 100 List of Venture Capitalists who possess the proverbial "golden touch." Hardymon: Innovation Economy as Offering Opportunities for Creativity
Small, entrepreneurial companies are discovering and commercializing solutions to "big data" and other future challenges, and they're creating lots of jobs in the process, according to Felda Hardymon, a strong advocate of the innovation economy. Companies that are succeeding "have people working at one problem 16 hours a day because they have to. It's not just their agility--they outwork the competition."
