Vice President Rickey N. McCurry Named Chair of Great Lakes Advancement Group

Rickey N. McCurry, vice president for institutional advancement
at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, has started a two-year term
as board chair of the Council for the Advancement and Support of
Education's (CASE) Great Lakes District of education advancement
professionals.

McCurry took over the organization's leadership role at
the CASE V District's Annual Conference in Chicago. The
group includes more than 2,500 alumni administrators, fund raisers,
public and media relations managers, publications editors,
communications and marketing professionals and government relations
officers at more than 400 institutions in Indiana, Illinois,
Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
CASE's purpose is to help advancement professionals advance the
cause of education by offering information resources and training
opportunities to aid its members and their institutions.
"I have found CASE to be an excellent resource for professional
and personal development throughout my career, and it is my hope
that CASE V provides those same qualities for new, mid-career and
veteran higher-education advancement professionals," said
McCurry.
With a diverse background in higher-education administration and
teaching, McCurry has been consistently successful in resource
generation and financial management. Since July, he has set
the strategies for fundraising and alumni affairs that support
Rose-Hulman's long-range educational objectives. He also
serves as a member of the president's administrative cabinet.
Before joining Rose-Hulman, McCurry spent 11 years as vice
chancellor for institutional advancement and chief executive
officer of the Southern Illinois University Foundation. His
advancement career also included positions at University of
Tennessee, the Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., Penn
State University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Lane
College in Jackson, Tenn.
McCurry received CASE's Commonfund Institutionally Related
Foundation CEO of the Year Award in 2009, has been a featured
presenter for several CASE national and district conferences, a
former member of CASE's Institutionally Related Foundations Board,
a member of CASE's Circle of Excellence Award Committee and a
member of CASE's Philanthropy Commission. He also was
selected to participate in the Big Ten Fund Raisers Institute in
2000 and 2005, and participated in the American Association of
State Colleges and Universities Millennium Leadership Initiative in
2004.
McCurry earned a law degree from North Carolina Central
University's School of Law after graduating summa cum laude with a
bachelor's degree in history from Lane College. He is a
former member of the American Bar Association, National Bar
Association and Tennessee Bar Association. Besides CASE, he
is a member of the National Association of College and Universities
Attorneys.
