Largest Freshman Class Moves onto Campus, With Records for International and Women Students

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is welcoming its largest
freshman class this weekend, with 619 students including record
numbers for international and women students.
Incoming students moved into campus residence halls on Friday,
August 24. New student orientation begins on Saturday, August 25,
with President Robert A. Coons addressing students and parents at
1:15 p.m. in Hulbert Arena of the Sports and Recreation Center.
Classes begin for the fall quarter on Thursday, August 30.
Features of this year's freshman class include:
- A record number of international students (53) are coming from
China (39), South Korea (6), India (3), Australia (1), Hong Kong
(1), Nigeria (1), Panama (1) and Singapore (1);
- There are 123 women;
- The median SAT score is 690 in math/610 in critical reading;
median ACT is 32 in math/29 in English;
- 64 students were ranked in the top three of their high school
graduating classes;
The recruitment for the incoming class was historic, with
all-time highs in freshman applications (4,469), women applications
(1,063), international applications (356), Latino/Hispanic
applications (245,) and transfer applications (259).
Rose-Hulman's graduate school is also experiencing a record 42
new students for the 2012-13 school year.
