Rose-Hulman
Tops U.S. News & World Report "America's Best Colleges" List of
Undergraduate Engineering Programs
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed first in the latest
U.S. News & World Report survey of deans and senior faculty who
evaluated colleges or universities that offer the bachelor's or master's
degree as the highest degree in engineering.
The results of the magazine's annual survey of "America's Best
Colleges" were released Friday (Aug. 20).
Undergraduate engineering programs at Rose-Hulman that were included
in the survey continue to be highly regarded by survey participants,
with degree programs in chemical, civil, computer, electrical and
mechanical engineering selected by national educators as best in their
respective academic areas.
Rose-Hulman officials note that the survey results should not be
overemphasized by students or their families during the college
selection process.
"The survey results are very gratifying but we believe that choosing
a college is an individual decision that should be made by students and
families based on the student's best interests," stated Rose-Hulman
President John Midgley.
"Students should make their college decision based on which college
or university best meets their individual needs. They come to
Rose-Hulman because of our focus on undergraduate engineering,
mathematics and science; our outstanding faculty, small size and the
success of our alumni," he said.
Rose-Hulman Admissions Dean Chuck Howard encourages students to visit
the campuses they are considering. "A well planned campus visit is
essential to making the right college choice," he emphasized.
Following Rose-Hulman on the list of top undergraduate engineering
programs were Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, Calif.; Cooper Union in
New York City; and the United States Military Academy at West Point,
N.Y. and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. |
