ANGEL recognized the RosEvaluation Tool development team for exemplary ANGEL
Learning Management System Enterprise in their extension of ANGEL functionality
into the RosEvaluation Tool, the primary mechanism used for student learning
outcomes assessment at Rose-Hulman.
The development team included Timothy Chow, director of institutional research;
Kevin Davidson, principal technologist in the Office of Instructional,
Administrative and Information Technology; Will Mathies, manager of client
projects for Rose-Hulman Ventures; and Will Anderson, a sophomore computer
science major.
Rose-Hulman developed the RosE Portfolio System in 1998 to collect, evaluate and
report achievement in student learing outcomes to students, faculty, employers,
graduate schools and various accrediting agencies. The RosEvaluation Tool was
later adopted as the means to evaluate student work products that are submitted.
Julia Williams, executive director of the Office of Institutional Research,
Planning and Assessment, joined Myra Burnett, vice provost and associate
professor of psychology at Spelman College, in assessing the practice of
E-portfolios in a recent article published in the winter issue of the
Association of American Colleges and University's peerReview magazine, which
examines emerging trends and key debates in undergraduate education.
Williams noted this is the second year Rose-Hulman has been recognized for its
contributions to ANGEL’s success, and the third award in the company’s
eight-year history. Davidson was honored last year for individual contributions
and Claude Anderson was recognized in 2006.
Davidson, Mathies, Williams and Will Anderson made presentations at the ANGEL
Users Conference on different uses and applications.
