Rose-Hulman

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student Cory Salem was killed Wednesday, Sept. 3, in a motorcycle accident in Bloomington, Ind.  He was a senior biomedical engineering student and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.  Cory is from the Akron, Ohio, area.

The funeral will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, at the Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 South Miller St., Fairlawn, OH  44333.  Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Office of Student Affairs is arranging for bus transportation from campus for students wanting to attend the funeral.

“I ask you to join me and the Rose-Hulman family in extending your hands and hearts to Cory’s family and to keep them in your thoughts and prayers,” Rose-Hulman President Gerald Jakubowski said in a message to the Rose-Hulman campus.  “Please look to each other for strength and please seek the support you need to cope with this tragedy.”

Because of Salem’s death, the Student Counseling Center extended its hours throughout the week.
