Alumna Spring McEwen Named South Carolina's Young Engineer of the Year

Civil engineering alumna V. Spring McEwen has been awarded the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers' 2013 Young Engineer of the Year.
McEwen, a 2004 graduate, is the lead design engineer with Metromont Corporation, which focuses on precast concrete structures. She leads design teams and manages in-house and out-of-house projects for the company, being involved in several multi-million dollar projects, including expansion of the Morehead (S.C.) Medical parking deck, Cardinal Data Center, Project Dolphin Data Center, and Mallard Creek High School.
Professionally, McEwen is a member of the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers’ Piedmont Chapter, and serves as chapter treasurer.
McEwen is also active in her community (Taylors, South Carolina), serving as a Discover E program and Mathcounts volunteer, helping encourage local youths toward careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
