Design Projects Civil Engineering Students

Freshman civil engineering students are already gearing up to work on design projects during the upcoming spring academic quarter. Traditionally, these projects are sponsored by local citizens and community groups.

As freshmen, the students have limited engineering skills, but they always show a lot of enthusiasm and creativity, and provide a genuine service to the community. Civil Engineering Professors John Aidoo, PhD, and Jenny Mueller Price, PhD, are expecting to have 12 different projects this spring.

Typical projects include parking lot layouts, solutions for drainage and traffic problems, simple waste treatment problems, floor plans for small buildings, and designs for athletic fields, playgrounds, and park projects.

Each project is completed by the students in nine weeks. The spring quarter begins on March 9.

If you are interested in the Rose-Hulman freshman design    program, contact Professor Aidoo at 812-877-8594 or send a message to describing your project by February 20.
