Alumnus Rob Coop has started a two-year term as national vice president for Alpha Phi Omega (APO), a coeducational service organization with more than 400,000 members at 375 U.S. colleges.

Coop, a 1993 civil engineering graduate, was elected to the leadership role at APO's 43rd Convention in Chicago on December 30, 2014. He will chair the organization's spirits and standards committee, and fall pledge class namesake committee. The vice president also represents the president, as needed, and helps chair board meetings.

Coop started his association with APO while at Rose-Hulman, helping organize several service projects, including a campus lost-and-found program. He also helped the campus chapter host a regional spring conference in 1993. Later, Coop played a key role in starting a chapter at IUPUI.

Professionally, Coop manages the bridge inspection department for USI Consultants, Inc., which has 16 active Indiana county clients and has completed inspection work in 30 counties. The professional engineer lives in Westfield, Indiana.
